چکیده

The differential adsorption heats of oxygen and NO, as well as catalytic oxidation behavior during NO oxidation and NO2 dissociation reactions over supported Pt-catalysts, were investigated by microcalorimetric measurements. The average heat of adsorption (∆H) of oxygen ranged from 310 kJ/mol at 200 ̋C to 289 kJ/mol at 400 ̋C. Over this temperature range formation of platinum oxides and coverage dependence caused variations in the apparent heat of adsorption. NO heat of adsorption from 50 to 150 ̋C was near constant with an average value of 202 kJ/mol over the temperature range.

Using combined XAS/DRIFTS to study CO/NO Oxidation over Pt/Al2O3 catalysts

Combined X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) were applied to investigate the interaction between reaction atmosphere, adsorbates and Pt oxidation state of Pt/Al2O3 model diesel oxidation catalysts under CO/NO oxidation conditions. The Pt oxidation state was correlated to the adsorbates on the catalyst’s surface. Even at lo...

Rapid H2O2-promoted oxidation of anazolene sodium over the [BMIM]PF=/Pt/γ-Al2O3 nanocatalyst

Highly meso-porous Pt contained γ-Al2O3 nanostructure was prepared by a combined sol gel-pyrolysis method in the presence of polyvinylpyrrolidone and Pluronic p123 as surfactant. The surface of the prepared nanostructure was decorated with 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([BMM]PF6) ionic liquid to enhance the sorption capacity and prevent the poisoning of the catalytic active si...

In Situ Infrared Study of the Catalytic Ignition of Methane on Pt/Al2O3

The ignition process of the catalytic partial oxidation of methane has been studied by diffuse reflectance infrared spectroscopy (DRIFTS) over Pt/Al2O3 catalyst in a freshly reduced (DPt = 1.8 nm), oxidized (DPt = 2.1 nm) and aged (DPt = 5.1 nm) state. The ignition temperature is found to change with the catalyst state following the order oxidized > freshly reduced > aged. Whatever the catalyst...

Microfibrous Entrapment of Small Catalyst Particulates for High Contacting Efficiency Removal of Trace Co from Reformates at Low Temperatures for Pem Fuel Cells

Preferential oxidation (PROX) of CO is the most efficient way to remove CO from reformate streams for PEM fuel cells. Pt/Al2O3 has long been used for this purpose. Pt/Al2O3 catalysts are effective for preferential oxidation of CO only at temperatures above 150°C, and the maximum CO conversion usually takes place at around 200°C. In this study, promotion of Pt/Al2O3 with transition metals result...

Pt/MOx/SiO2, Pt/MOx/TiO2, and Pt/MOx/Al2O3 Catalysts for

Conventional supported Pt catalysts have often been prepared by loading Pt onto commercial supports, such as SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3, and carbon. These catalysts usually have simple metal-support (i.e., Pt-SiO2) interfaces. To tune the catalytic performance of supported Pt catalysts, it is desirable to modify the metal-support interfaces by incorporating an oxide additive into the catalyst formula. H...
